I am evaluating the 9S08GQ8 for a work project and I have the Freescale/P&E 9S08GQ8 demo board with a USB-BDM interface. Although the hardware looks good, my impression of Codewarrior has been fairly negative, and support from Freescale seems to be almost non-existent. I'm glad to see that HC08 support is just now becoming available in SDCC. Is it realistic to think that 9S08 support might usable for production use in the near future? Furthermore is there any free support for P&E's USB-BDM interface? (Or any other BDM interface?) On which platforms? I would be willing to help with some of the debugging if the code is reasonably close to production-ready. |

Not sdcc related, but we use ICC with NoICE and one of the P&E BDMs on the HCS12. NoICE loads, programs, and debugs S19 files quite happily. You can use a symbol importer to get the function names and can do source level debugging with the IEEE 695 or ICC specific format. If price is your first concern then this is quite a decent setup. -- Michael On Sat, Apr 29, 2006 at 03:33:25PM -0400, Marty wrote: > I am evaluating the 9S08GQ8 for a work project and I have > the Freescale/P&E 9S08GQ8 demo board with a USB-BDM interface. > > Although the hardware looks good, my impression of Codewarrior has > been fairly negative, and support from Freescale seems to be almost > non-existent.
