Hello, The first place to look when you run out of memory is the map-file. This will tell you what went where. The error says it needs more memory in internal RAM, but that is limited to 128 bytes only on any 8051 for direct access. You'll need to move some more. But if it turns out there are only sloc's in DSEG then this will not help you. Maybe a different memory model can help, maybe using stack-auto can. Hope this helps, Maarten > Hello All, > > I'm quite new to sdcc and 8051 in general so I'm hoping for some help. > My first attempts worked fine, but right now I run into some trouble. > > I'm trying to port some sample code for TI CC2430 written for IAR to sdcc. > I've got two files, which I'm trying to link together. > > I first called "sdcc -c lcd.c" und after that "sdcc aes.c lcd.rel" the > error reported is "?ASlink-Error-Could not get 88 consecutive bytes in > internal RAM for area DSEG." > > As far as I know, this indicates that I ran out of memory. Hello All, I'm quite new to sdcc and 8051 in general so I'm hoping for some help. My first attempts worked fine, but right now I run into some trouble. I'm trying to port some sample code for TI CC2430 written for IAR to sdcc. I've got two files, which I'm trying to link together. I first called "sdcc -c lcd.c" und after that "sdcc aes.c lcd.rel" the error reported is "?ASlink-Error-Could not get 88 consecutive bytes in internal RAM for area DSEG." As far as I know, this indicates that I ran out of memory. I thought no problem: I can put my variables to xdata space. So I changed tthe code. After that the problem was still the same. Then I had another look in the datasheet of the CC2430 and recognized that the memory-model is a little bit different from normal 8051. I added some linker options the the compiler command: "sdcc --xram-loc 0xE000 --xram-size 8192 aes.c lcd.rel" because the SRAM starts at 0xE000 and its size is 8kb. But the error is still the same "Could not get 88 consecutive bytes" I wonder that my changes to the linker weren't recognized, obviously I make a mistake. Can someone please help me? I uploaded my code to http://page.mi.fu-berlin.de/hesse/doc/aes.zip if anyone wants to have a look. There are two warnings when compiling, but don'tcare at the moment. Thanks & greetings Sascha |
