I recently installed Cygwin on a new computer. Today I tried to downoad the current SDCC sources and rebuild them under Cygwin for MinGW using the script in sdcc/support/scripts/sdcc_cygwin_mingw32 with no success - gcc refused the -mno-cygwin option.
After quite a bit of experimenting I discovered this message: http://sourceware.org/ml/cygwin/2010-06/msg00028.html , effectively saying that in current cygwin there is no support for MinGW in its gcc.
Following what's written in that message, I modified said script to use gcc-3 and g++-3 instead of gcc and g++ respectively; and then built SDCC sucessfully.
I thought this might be of interest to others willing to build SDCC under windows. Somebody who does lyx might perhaps add this snippet to the documentation chapter 2.1...
