Dear sdcc developers,
I've been working on a better approach to stack allocation approach in
the stack-compact branch. However there are still some problems with
my approach, which I am sure I can solve, but I don't think I'll have
the time to do so in the near future.
However, for comparison, I also implemented Chaitin's approach to
stack allocation (in the stack-compact branch as well)), which is the
current standard textbook approach, and it performs a lot better than
sdcc's current allcoator.
I thus intend to clean up the stack-compact branch a little bit, and
make Chaitin's allocator the default (initially for z80, z180, r2k,
gbz80 and hc08 only, since it requires a bit of glue in the backend).
