Can you please be more specific?

I assume that you are installing sdcc-2.9.0-rc2-setup.exe on Windows. Do you have an old sdcc version already installed?
In which folder did you install the previous version?
Did you select to "Uninstall before installing" or "Do not uninstall"?

If you installed the old version in SDCC/280 and you selected "Do not uninstall" when installing the new version, the new version will overwrite the old version, so it is correct to install to SDCC/280. Is this the case?

I rechecked the functionality: new version always proposes to install itself in the same locations as the old one.

There might be pro and cons for such functionality, depending on the reason why somebody choose the specific folder.

There is still a possibility tho change the installation folder, so I'm against the change of behavior, unless somebody convince me ;-)
