This is a presentation accuracy issue. Since breadcrumbs are not included in the DOS version of The Labyrinth of Time, their spaces on the inventory management bar are left blank.
In the original DOS version, the remaining icons were centered. In the ScummVM implementation of the DOS version, they are aligned to the left. This does not impact the game, but it seems unintended, is odd-looking , and is inconsistent with the original game's presentation.
Two screenshots are attached for reference from the DOS and ScummVM versions. No saves necessary in this case.

Just for good measure: here's a screenshot of the low-resolution DOS version too. It has the same alignment issues and definitely shouldn't since the breadcrumb icons were never meant for this resolution.
