Hi Im fairly informed but not an expert on scripting from scratch etc. I have an aging appliance electrical tester, Orig software was DOS...hmmm, it has test memory and the data downloads via serial (and a usb adapter) and into the pc is the aim. I have had it doing so via script communicator into a txt file. I would very much like to automate or integrate this into Excel or Access as a script/macro, a click of a button or two and set the tester off transmitting etc. There is commercial software available but is horrendously expensive for the small amount of inspection i do and would not pay for itself.
Can anybody please help or pointers in the right direction on where to start. I would be happy to share back any results I find with this project.
I currently achieve this with an app called teraTerm , building the process around this some years back, downloading into an old PC application Called Lotus (database) but is very glitchy and cumbersome.
Thank you
