I downloaded 05.00. When ScriptEditor is launched either via ScriptCommunicator or directly, I get a 'ScriptEditor.exe has stopped working' / cloe program dialog.

As someone new to the project I offer the following feedback:
It looks like an excellent tool but it is difficult for me to determine from the existing document/video
1 Whether it will do the things I need it to do
2 How to go about acheiving those use cases
E.g. Can I use it to build an automated test suite for my system (an interface box)?
I know it all takes time and effort but maybe some tutorials focussed on use cases would be useful such as:
1 Send a cyclical message (with counter and checksum), check that response is correct for 100 messages.
2 Measure and report time between message being sent and response being received.
3 Run a suite of such tests, showing successes and failures.
Just some initial thoughts.

I was thinking (in awhile) about writting a FAQ and/or as you said typicall use cases. I think I will add this to the manual in one of the next versions (and maybe a support page here on sourceforge).

can you start ScriptEditor without a script (you can find it in the ScriptCommunicator folder)?
If this succeeds can you send me your script?

I cannot start ScriptEditor.exe even without a script. Just double clicking it in the ScriptCommunicator folder results in the failure.
