Hey guys,=20 =20 I have created this mailing list to begin to get us all on the same page with this project. There are 4 of us here currently. Feel free to share = any and all info that any of us have exchanged about each other. It is good = if we are well acquainted.=20 =20 The point of this project is to make the 1st .Net (C#) based open source charting project. There are a few good commercial products - very = expensive and not really worth it. There are some successful Java based (sure = C/C++, Eiffel and a million more) open source projects that do the same thing = that we are trying to do - just in those langiages. I also know that it was = only a matter of time before some group of developers decided to do this, I = am glad that is us. I KNOW that this will be a successful project if we = apply our selves for at least a short time. =20 I will be putting up some decompiled interfaces up in CVS this week = along with some notes. The intent is to see what others have done and learn = from the best approaches in all of them, as far as structure only, not implementation code. =20 I am focusing on the TradeWeapon project in force lately. It is a C# = .Net based trading platform - (see the cvs via the web at sourceforge) =20 * hooks into real time data and direct access brokers * scanning * historical data storage * technical, statistical and quantitative analysis * and with ScreenFire - Charting =20 ScreenFire will primarily be required to chart =20 * OHLC Bar charts * Candlestick charts * Simple line charts * Scatter diagrams =20 I have recommended to most of you guys to get trial versions of Dundas Chart, Tee Chart, ChartFX etc and see what I am talking about. I have = also recommended that you guys get set up with Tortoise CVS so you can use = your CVS developer accounts at SourceForge. Do these things and let us know = where we all stand.=20 =20 After we sketch out with notes and emails our basic abstractions (which = I have many notes that I will get to posting), we will divide the work and = get rolling ASAP. This is very preliminary info and I will be continually sending more as I can transfer my notes and make them readable, and as questions begin to exchange. I suggest each of you send a short message = at least to the group to give a little hello, some bio and the like. =20 Thanks again guys - I look forward to working with you all. =20 My Best, Chris |
