I'm more used to having indentation work by selecting a
section of text and doing Tab to make it move right and
Shift-Tab to make it move left. Is there a way to
implement that in a future Screem?

    ctrl+shift+i and ctrl+shift+u

tab to indent not working is a bug which I'm sure I fixed
    once :)

May I make a suggestion that you get a copy of the
sourcecode for Geany, another GTK-based editor, and see if
it helps you understand how to implement this tab-to-indent
    feature in Screem?

you can make the suggestion, not much use, the code to do it
is already in screem, and has been for ages, just isn't
called when tab is pressed :)

tab to indent a selection is implemented in CVS. shift-tab
won't be unless gedit implements it for consistancy reasons.
