It would be nice if, when specifying user-definable
browsers, to have something on the "View" menu *other*
than "External Browser 1", "External Browser 2", etc. A
couple alternatives:

* Have the browser name in the "View" menu be the
basename of the pathname of the browser, i.e. if
"/usr/bin/opera" is the pathname of "Browser 1", what
appears in the "View" menu is "opera".

* In the Browsers tab of the Preferences dialog, have a
text field for Browsers 1, 2, and 3 where one can
specify their names, i.e. when a user sets the pathname
of Browser 1 to /usr/bin/opera, one can type "Opera" in
a text field labeled "Name:", so that one would see
"Opera" in the "View" menu instead of "External Browser 1".

I like the second alternative better.

The second alternative does sound better, although the UI is
a bit cluttered already for estting up the browsers and
adding in name fields would make the preferences dialog too
    large for 640x480 screens.

I think some kind of combination of your two ideas may be
nice, setting the name to be "opera" in the case of
    "/usr/bin/opera" if a name isn't set yet.

CVS now has this implemented, changing the name currently
requires a restart, as with changing the icon, for the label
    to change.

With no name provided the basename of the command is used.
