Hello,
The octave community developped a GUI using Scintilla as editor. Up to now, I used octave inside Emacs. Would it be possible to add to Scintilla some basic interface to source control ? It should be able to clone, push, pull, and commit. This way, octave could be run with its own GUI, not relying on Emacs for source control. All other applications built upon Scintilla would also benefit from this feature.

Pascal

That is well outside Scintilla's scope. If you want a library for source code control then write a library for source code control.

I don't ask a complete support for source code, just the ability to
lauch a few external commands. In the case of Mercurial:
check in: hg pull; hg update
check out: hg commit (with some commit message); hg push

Otherwise, there must be an external shell running outside Scintilla
(which is not an issue), but which may modify the file behind
Scintilla itself. I think it's better to have the editor aware of
modifications which may result from the version control system.

It does not matter how limited the scope, no source code control functionality will be accepted into Scintilla.
