In this first picture I have an open file with word wrap on. Notice that the scrollbar is all the way at the bottom: http://i222.photobucket.com/albums/dd3/pathovore/scite_1.jpg

Next, I click the tab adjacent to the one currently selected: http://i222.photobucket.com/albums/dd3/pathovore/scite_2.jpg

Finally, I click back to my original file. Notice that the scroll bar has moved all the way to the top [in larger files, it will scroll up a percent] http://i222.photobucket.com/albums/dd3/pathovore/scite_3.jpg

------------------------------

Note: This behavior is very strange coming from Textpad. It's not relevant to just being at the end of a document and can occur anywhere. Sometimes it jumps back to the top of the document, sometimes it jumps back up to the start of the line. Either way, the position is NOT preserved.

Tested on XP with scite 1.7.5. Thank you for your consideration.

Its preserving the top document line, not the top display line. This is done to handle switch back after changing width better. I won't be working on this.

    greets:

I disagree with this being logical behavior [and the priority assignment the bug was given] I get truly strange results when clicking back to my file. Here another example to consider [using notepad++ this time, not that it matters, the bug is in both]

    Download to test for yourself.

[1]open "np++ or scite bug.txt" in either np++ or ScitE
[2]navigate to any line, preferably a high numbered one, but doesn't matter.
[3]control+n to make a new file
[4]click back to "np++ or scite bug.txt"..... BUG!

I cannot use ScitE because of this.. I simply completely cannot even consider giving it a chance, so please, if you will not consider fixing it, at the very least, then, tell me a list of classes, functions, and headers/files or possible member functions which contain the code i need to modify to make the scrollbar position behave sanely when moving around files.

The priority field is used to define the priority on which I will work on issues. Since I don't expect to work on this issue it receives a low priority, 3. Bug importance is a subjective issue and this bug does not affect me.

If you want to understand the areas that will require attention to modify this behaviour then you should read the code. I will not be doing this for you.

    nyamatongwe:

If you know it's NOT a bug, then surely you're a smart enough guy to know exactly where (which classes/functions) this "Not-bug" is. Where can I look so that I, too, can see the code and learn that it's not a bug as you have so stated it not to be.

This happens also on the horizontal scrollbar. In the attachments are 2 screenshots: In the first I have simply created a line with one million characters. The second shows what is happening if I'm open another file then.

Edit: Uploading attachments doesn't work very well. The order is not correct and it seems not to currently be possible to change this (the second image is the first and the first is the second).

This is a completely different issue.

The problem description sounded like it is the same problem as on a tab change the scrollbar position was wrong too. Well, I have now opened an own ticket for this problem: https://sourceforge.net/p/scintilla/bugs/1547/
