" http://github.com/orbitalquark/textadept/issues/199#issuecomment-1237915514 " describes and depicts how scintilla does not adhere to the colourative configuration provided by KDE, whereas all alternative GTK-based software does.

The priority is as high as it is because although this is unimportant for most of humanity, for those that require adherence to their colourative preferences, this is the difference between being able to utilize this and not.

Scintilla does not apply the system colour theme to text as that would drastically limit its functionality. System colour themes only define a limited number of colours for text foreground and background, often just one colour. One of the main benefits to using Scintilla is to show text with multiple styles including multiple colours and the particular choice of colours is left up to the application.

This is working as intended and is not a bug.

However, for those that need additional assistance viewing text, adherence to the system's colouration is necessary, else they are totally unable to utilize this. Why not allow it?

I see no reason why specifically one module of a few apps should decide that it doesn't want to adhere to any of the global preferences of the OS, dissimilarly to all else.

        It is allowed.

Only one module gets to decide the behaviour. To allow flexibility, that's the application.

If you want something else then show a complete and detailed plan and API defining how to share responsibility between modules.
