1.)
Installation description of SciTE binaries
One thing is missing: "Where to copy <libscintilla.so>?
sudo cp ./libscintilla.so /usr/lib/scite/</libscintilla.so>

2)
Compilation from source:
Information in readme is not sufficient, I was not able to execute:
sudo make install

Regards,

Stefan

P.S.:
In Ubuntu 20.04 is still the old SciTE, with the limitation, that the underscore is invisible.

      1) Clarified shared library location with [d4c5a7]
      https://sourceforge.net/p/scintilla/scite/ci/d4c5a77b15232ab53d78ce022e65fe6c2b835e71/
      .

      2) Can you show what went wrong with sudo make install?

It takes a while for SciTE releases to appear in distributions. ScITE
doesn't really separate out bug fixes from new and changed features so
distributions may not want to update.
