#194 Segmentation Fault

When I was following tutorial 1, I got to chapter 3 and just below fig 3.2 it instructs the user to double click on the gray 1 (to open the layer window). At that point I get the error "Segmentation Fault" and the program shuts down. I cannot get past that point. I am running Fedora version 8, and SciGraphica v 2.1.0
