Your proposal sounds very interesting. A free quality database is the main
thing Scid is missing. I'm sure lots of people here would be interested,
But it's probably a hard thing to do well.

Th spelling file with ScidvsPC-4.8/svn is a custom one from January 2012.
And you can always download and use the current spelling.ssp from Franz Nagl's site.

This will be done if/when .si5 is released i think. I'm not sure how hard it will be
to do, but it can't be done with .si4.

Sure. ScidvsPC will ask to upgrade si3 databses to si4 when you open them.
