Enrico has been hassling me about this too, and yesterday I figured out how to make premove without much hassle :) I'd thought about it before, but hadn't found the nicest solution... Scid is such a huge thing. I've reinstated the <Control-ButtonPress-1> binding for drawing arrows on the main board, and this is now available for premove. All you do is hold down the control key, and click on the FROM square, then the TO square. A green arrow will be drawn. (These arrows can be drawn all the time, but they only have a special premove meaning while playing fics). To cancel the premove, press the "escape" key. These changes are in subversion, which isn't too hard for Linux users - just see the scidvspc homepage for instructions. Windows users will have to find a subversion client, check out the subversion, then use the "make-scidgui.bat" utility to compile a new "scid.gui". Sorry for not posting a new scid.gui, but my internet connection isn't the best. Anyway - please play test this. Steve |
