Hello Everybody!
Thank You very much for all the efforts beeing made to development SciDavis!!! I really like functionality and capabilities. Usually I co-use Excel and Scidavis. Calculations seem to bee easier in Excel, but graphs are not my style. This is why I copy and paste data from Excel into SciDavis.
This week I upgraded to 2.3.0 and opened an old file created with version 1.21
Since then following (error?!?) occurs:
column is defined as numeric - pasting data from excel works fine, but column is defined as TEXT afterwards. As a result the column is not used for an existing graph any more. Trace has to be added and all formations need to be done!
I hoped that this has something to do with SciDAbis file being created with version 1.21 - but even in a new file this behavior can be seen repeatedly.
What do I need to change that column description will not be changed, when data is pasted?!?
High Performance Coder answered on my discussion threat and suggested to open a bug ticket!
Thanks alot
ccf
Since release 1.23.1, copy/pasted data in a column is treated as numeric IF and ONLY IF all the pasted data is numeric.
Can you please share a version 1.21 "*.sciprj" file BEFORE pasting the excel data and the corresponding version 2.3.0 "*.sciprj" obtained AFTER pasting?
I hope this bug has been fixed, see this commit.
I still see this error. Running SciDAVis 2.3.0 on Manjaro Linux.
But the error occurs for me only if I set the numeric format to use comma to separate the decimals. I mean, SciDAVis is set to use commas and I paste the numbers in this format, but it converts to text.
So maybe there's still some leftover bug when it's set to use comma instead of dot?
This has been fixed after 2.3.0 was released. If you want to get rid of the bug, you need either compile SciDAVis yourself using HEAD from official github repository or wait for the next release.
