Conventionally, when i export a figure, this is my settings:

In SciDAVis, it shows

But when exported, it shows

I have tried method 2. This is what i have done:

    This is my settings:

This is what it looks in SciDAVis:

And this is the exported figure:

Everything seems almost fine, except there existing a little gap between the X and Y axis.

SciDAVis is so great that i have recommended it to many researchers and students.
    Please see:
    And:

Wish SciDAVis be better and better!

    Why my post is moderated?

@Paul. I don't know why your post was moderated. Any authenticated sourceforge user has posting priveleges. Mind you, I am only just now receiving notifications again, after more than a month of silence from SF, so I'm doing a catch up.

Thank you Professor Russell Standish, SciDAVis is marvelous! I have recommended it on the bbs.feng.com.

Just to confirm, there appears to have been a change in the way that the canvas frame is handled when graphs are exported in image formats.

    Dear Professor Russell Standish,

Could you please have a look into this problem? The SciDAVis is nearly perfect if these two issues are addressed.

    hi,
    bbbear2002 could you please provide
    screenshot of settings,
    screenshot of figure in SciDAVis,
    And exported figure..

    Dear Arun Narayanankutty,

The canvas frame doesn't work in 1D9, this is all the issue. Could you help us address this issue, please? Thank you in advance!

I am working on another part of scidavis for now.. then i will have a look in to this issue.. probably when we upgrade to newer qwt library, I will try to address this issue..

Could someone help us to solve this issue?

Currently, my development machine has died, and I'm awaiting a replacement.

I suspect the frame problem is not in the SciDAVis codebase, but rather in the dependent plotting library (QwtPlot?).

  • narunlifescience

I do believe that.. that is the reason I hinted that we could fix it with Qwt library upgrade in my previous comment..

Dear Narunlifescience, could you please help us look into this issue, which applies to AlphaPlot too.

This issue still exists in 1D14 Mac version.

As Arun mentioned, this is most likely a problem with the dependent library. As such, it may be fixed when we finally get scidavis to build with newer versions of qwt and qwtplot3d etc, and probably little point in looking at it before then.

In the meantime, my priority is to get the newer OS packages to build.

Respected Professor Standish, is the 1D14 version the newer OS package? When then will SciDAVis use the newer versions of qwt and qwtplot3d, please?

That's unknown. I had an attempt at updating to qwt6, but the API
changes between qwt5 and qwt6 are extensive, and not in a good way. In
the end, I simply ran out of time. I need to start from scratch, very
carefully shimming the terrible API in qwt6, but now there are other
priorities, such as getting it to build on the latest Debian and
      Fedora distributions.

Can SciDAVis restore the canvas frame as a solution? The canvas frame is not showing in 1D9-1D14, but shows fine in 1D8 and earlier versions.

In 1D8 we can use canvas frame to replace the axes backbones, and it shows fine. Then we can export the layer to SVG then to PDF. This method works fine in 1D8 and earlier versions.
So then could 1D14 restore the canvas frame?

OK - I'll see what changed between those versions...
