This search filters a database for games that contain [TheActivePosition] with the same side to move, ignoring castling and en passant rights. You can setup the position to search before filtering, v. [HowToSetupStartBoard].
Scid offers four types of positional searches:
Searches can be restricted to positions arising from analyses by selecting the [LookInVariations] checkbox. This may slow down searche if the databases contain many analyzed games.
The positions must match exactly [TheActivePosition]. The configuration must be identical on all each square.
The pawn structures must match exactly [TheActivePosition]. Other pieces can be anywhere. This search helps the study of openings according to their pawn formations.
The number of white and black pawns on each file must match exactly [TheActivePosition]. Other pieces can be anywhere. This search helps middlegame study.
The number of pieces and pawns must match [TheActivePosition]. Pawns and pieces can be anywhere. This search helps endgame study.
