I would like to have Engine versus Engine match using starting position from games in preselected file.
Very usefull for openings preparation.
Something like this in Shredder.
In fact this is the only reason keeping me stick to Windows OS.
It is already possible to have 2 engines play a position:
- set the position on the board
- open 2 analysis windows with the engines that will play the position
- click the "finish game" button in the "Analysis window 1"
There is no time management: it's only possible to set a fixed time or a fixed depth for every move

Yes , it's great feature and I like it.
Just because it's important especially for professional players
can be moved under play menu (Engine vs Engne) for example
and have small facilitations and conveniences.
Idea is to have input file games from which engines play each other with black and white.
Thus games are automatically selected and you can run long session without interfere.
Games played are saved in engines_match.pgn(or selected) for later review.
And is good to have ability to adjusticate current game at any time not loosing time and continue to the next one.
Of course there can be adjustments how to finish current game like resigh/draw earlier or just reasign if evaluation is over +4 for exmple.

i just encountered a weird behaviour when letting 2 engines play eachother : at some moments in the game, the computation switches : the White engine suddenly calculates the Black moves and visa versa .. you must believe me .. i had the 2 analysis windows open but didn't notice the switch .. it must be a bug ! Maybe one of the engines' UCI is not coded properly and/or SCID can not interact with the engines by their UCI ?

today i encountered this weird behaviour again .. i choose another engine and the same situation occured : at one position the engines switch sides !?
