Applications using MapKit can only be released on the App Store, which is incompatible with the GPL license.
The map view has been disabled to allow distribution of the app on SourceForge (bug #13).

An alternative mapping system has to be used (Open Street Map is the current runner up), to allow full functionality on the GPL app release.

At least, the version with a map display can be downloaded from the App Store.
Albeit the App Store security constraints disable some action scenario capabilities, like controlling a camera...

It turns out that releasing a signed application allowinf MapKit outside of the App Store is now possible.
This ticket is closed witn v1.3 release.
