Installed 1.6.1 on machine running linux mint17 32bit.

Installed several times, but application won't launch. No errors reported, just doesn't launch

1.6, that's very, very old.
Please download the latest package from the childsplay site, unpack it and just run it from the source, see the included readme.
There's a newer version beeing packaged by debian and eventually it will be part of ubuntu and mint.
