When I started working for the Southern Oregon University Foundation, one of my first jobs was to wade through a stack of paper scholarship award authorization forms. The committees in charge of selecting recipients wrote the name of the scholarship on the form. My job was to look up the account number for the scholarship fund. Unfortunately, the names the committees wrote on the forms didn't always match the account name in our system. For example, there would be a form for the Bob Bennett award and our list had it as the Robert Bennett Music Scholarship. This job was a drag. We manage over 100 named scholarships.... read more
