Its possible to create different skins (or look and feel) by having different versions of schema_elements.xml that contain 'default' rendering information for each kind of schema element and also different default previousSibling, followingSibling & parent 'tag' attributes of s2x:render), then to have a matching import stylesheet in the schema to XForms tranformation that works off these defaults to actually build the desired look and feel.
