Release 4.1.9

After some feedback from the 4.1.8 trials as part of the research program, some issues and updates have been made in this release, including:
- Move to OpenJDK 16 and jMonkeyEngine 3.4.0
- Last opened pcap is now saved in settings.xml (if the running folder is writable)
- A bug in display of packet data size as cone base width has been fixed
- Some additional detail on the F1 help screen

Deb package to follow shortly.

Release-4.1.8

This project is now running on the OpenJDK 14 platform with an installer rather than expecting a user provided runtime. Unbuntu and Mac installers expected to be uploaded shortly. The move away from tcpdump/winpcap to io.pkts has also significantly simplified the install process.

Release 4.1.4

A long term goal of this project is to get VR working, for this reason I have been tracking the jMonkeyEngine 3.3 release, which includes a native VR component. This release was compiled on the beta release of the 3.3.0 SDK.

Release 4.1.2

Some significant 'useability' improvements in this release. Including:
- Fast scrolling with WASD
- Hover over links for packet data
- Vertical time-line now expands/contracts in all viewing modes

Release 4.1.1

Filter by host functionality added, also the ability to pan using WASD keys.

Release 4.1

Fixed some initial annoyances in this minor update. The colors are prettier, different destination protocols have different shapes, the vertical axis can now be shown by day/hour and a bug stopping UDP/ICMP from being read is fixed.

Release 4.0

Another very long break between releases, this new version takes a different approach to the visualisation and focuses on pcap files instead of Snort alerts.

Release 3.3

Last real release was over 8 years ago! This release just updates the program for the new versions of Java3D, the JRE and the MySQL connector.

I am still having a lot of trouble with the packet animation timing, seems to be due to the demise of J3DTimer, but I have managed to get this release working okay by playing with the 'delay' slider.

Surprising how little needed to be changed on the Snort side. The SecurityOnion/Snorby configuration used in testing this release worked much the same way as things did back in 2002.

Release 3.0

It's been a while between releases. This one fixes the lag created by DNS lookups and also improves the browsing by removing the annoying roll. Other big changes include texture updates and links that indicate traffic bandwidth.

Release 2.1b

A rather quick release to fix some bugs in 2.0 and make some major improvements to the database reading methodology

Release 2.0

I finally found the motivation to make some improvements to this program. The ability to work with non-ACID installations like PureSecure is a big improvment. Searching based on filtered database queries will also make the package scalable to large databases.

Release 1.5

Now you can re-center the view on a host by
shift+clicking on it. Some bugs with database reading were also fixed.

Release 1.4

Thanks to Marty and Brian from www.snort.org for including the project on their website. The publicity and subsequent testing has resulted in a few fixes.

Release 1.4a

The latest release has completely changed the way that scanmap3d looks and has added a significant number of new features.
