Hello folks! Well its been a while now since I promised the core team members that I would be re-creating the Duck Spin animations. For those of you who are scratching their heads; these animations were shown when you hit the (info) button on the ship selection screen. I came to understand that it was not possible to include the original Star Control 2 animations INTO the pc port for legal reasons. (You can put them in after the fact of course, but they do not belong to us.) To that end, I am re-doing IT ALL, including the intro and ending videos. This time however, each ship description video will be an ACTION SHOT and belong to everyone. All animations will be 400 frames, with a pause at frame 300 for ship information overlay. McMartin will be working on that I think. More than 80% of the material needed to do all this doesnt exist yet. I am looking for as much good source material as possible to help my designs remain true to the heart of SC. In October, there will be a UQM PROMO VIDEO combining these animations with high quality screenshot videos and other material. Ive even contacted Eric Schwartz to see if he was willing to help create a few parts of the video. (Clip showing a Shofixti female waking from cryogenic sleep, etc ) Its going to make you cry people! I have basically completed only one scene so far. The Mycon. (My favorite) I have re-rendered the video in the HD format the promo video will be. Check it out here: http://4filehosting.com/file/36675/MyconHD-avi.html (Sorry, but the sound IS coming) Thanks to Meep-Eep for this hosting: http://uqm.stack.nl/files/spins/ Wanted: 3d object files for sc2 ships Ship design material. Get on GPSI first thing Monday! It's as if a hundred years of medical science - and a good few medical revolutions - have failed to properly impact our impressions of the world we live in and the future of our own lives. We should be allowed to try. He linked each of these genes together in an impressive graphic according to how they influence each other . Many critical functions in the body degenerate if they are not used regularly, and this degeneration is very bad for your long-term health and life span. One of the few points on which I agree with Jay Olshansky is that obesity has been convincingly demonstrated to be just as bad as cancer - on average, in terms of the likely affect on your life span. He began to doubt that the salon was legitimate. phpUltimately, we should worry that politicians with the power to ban research will also turn to banning healthy life extension technologies, or even the right to research such medical advances. This is a very sobering and motivating thought. On the other side of this debate Valter Longo and Paola Fabrizio have authored a paper suggesting that aspects of aging in mammals may indeed be programmed. Who funds physical immortality research in medical science or publishes on the topic when everyone knows that only wingnuts use the word "immortality? and that ultimately leads to support, funding, research and progress. Activism and advocacy. It's a tough problem, and not one that has an easy solution. phpAccording to the reliability theory of aging, researchers can continue to slowly lengthen healthy life spans through improvements across the board in medical technology for a long while yet. In the late stages of life, death rates level out - it's a high rate with each year of life, but there is no set upper limit to life span. '"Medical procedures in the absence of review are always a risk, no matter how flashy the new technology seems. phpFreedom in research drives progress; political barriers in increasingly centralized societies hold back cures and cost lives. And he wants to focus on me as the contextual 'anchor' for the piece, which means I'll have a camera crew following me throughout the duration of the conference. " Aging and related processes in the body are far from uniform across the animal kingdom - there are even animals that age too slowly for researchers to make a good estimate of life span. We can stick our heads in the sand and ignore this possibility or we can do just as much for the future of longevity medicine as we are prepared to do to ensure our financial future. It could take years, or decades, or even prove impossible. There, he attempts to convince the wider world that healthy life extension is impossible, or at least so hard that we shouldn't expect to see any significant gains in our lifetime. "Consider that iconic vision of old age depicted in James Whistler's famous portrait of his mother, known as "Whistler's Mother. It is typical of anti-research groups to point to slow progress, caused by their favored policies and threats, as justification for further restrictions. Take advantage of this fact, and give yourself the best possible chance of profiting from the future of medical science.
