Ok, that helps out a lot actually... thanks. I guess I should introduce myself... I'm a developer by trade, and actually went to college for video games. I've been working on an OpenGL powered clone of Star Control for about 3 weeks when I found this project and decided it would be silly of me not to join on. I'm experienced in C++ and Windows development, so this cross-platform SDL stuff is new to me. There are some GUIs out there which you can use if you don't like the command line.
