Dear all,
I suggest an entry for apparent catalytic rate constants. In contrast to the catalytic rate constant (which is the maximal flux through an enzymatic reaction, divided by the enzyme amount), the apparent catalytic rate constant (or enzyme efficiency) is the actual flux through an enzymatic reaction, divided by the enzyme amount. This quantity is used in flux analysis methods such as FBA with molecular crowding or resource balance analysis, to related fluxes and enzyme amounts by a linear relationship.
In analogy to the existing SBO entries, I suggest three entries:
These should NOT be subentries of "catalytic rate constant", because they are actually not constants.
If you decide to implement this suggestion, pleas let me know (email to wolfram.liebermeister@gmail.com)
Thank you!
