When I try to run sb-profile:report on sbcl 0.8.20 and
0.8.20.<something in the last day or two> some large negative integer
not being an UNSIGNED BYTE. The same test works for me on sbcl on
freebsd. I've tried on two different PPC boxes with the same results.
Does anyone else have any experience with this? I've looked in the BUGS
file, but don't see anything relevant and, near as I can tell, there
isn't any other current bug tracking system I should be looking in.
Forgive me if this is a dup, or if I'm doing something wrong here, but
it certainly seems busted to me.

Yes. From BUGS:
373: profiling issues on ppc/darwin
The following bit from smoke.impure.lisp fails on ppc/darwin:
(defun profiled-fun ()
(loop repeat 100000 do (profiled-fun))
dropping into the debugger with a TYPE-ERROR:
The value -1073741382 is not of type UNSIGNED-BYTE.
The test has been disabled on Darwin till the bug is fixed.
...thanks for the report, though. I prefer duplicate bug reports any day
to not getting them at all. ;-)
