I ran into an issue with SB-ALIEN this evening which had me
head-scratching for longer than I want to admit. I think it's a bug, but
I suppose you could just document it:
The docs for DEFINE-ALIEN-ROUTINE say that it can take a string to
identify the ELF symbol that you want to use for the function. However
it actually insists on the more restrictive SIMPLE-STRING. My code was
programmatically generating the names.
Confusingly the diagnostic prints the string as a string (without
specifying that there is anything special about it), and then says it
isn't a SIMPLE-STRING, which I equated with being a string.
As an aside, your scripts for generating the html manual are
double-encoding '&' into '&', which you may want to fix :)
