it would be nice to run a simple script before & after the backup.
For example: I'd like to write a file of all my apps, like
so I have this securely backed up daily.
Also I'd like to do a after the backup sends me the report via email.
Is there a way to do this *other than* writing a script to do these three tasks (write selections, simple backup/email report + shutdown) as a cron job?

Simple Backup is a great program, and I am fine with using cron. Anyway pre-/post-backup scripts could greatly improve usability
This would be great for dumping databases before backup, too.
Or stopping them, then backup, then start them.
