I assume the flist I see in my backup directory should contain a list of files that have been backed up. I can't open that file in any of my backups (incremental or full). Does this imply a problem with the backup process? Is there somewhere else I should be looking for a log of the files that are being backed up?

When I was using sbackup I was able to read the flist with any text editor, as well as with the built-in editor in Midnight Commander file manager. So it should be readable.
I perhaps should add that I regretfully quit using sbackup because it would not back up binary files, rendering it essentially useless and causing me to spend about a day trying to recover from a situation where I needed an executable file I thought had been backed up, but wasn't. None of my executable files got backed up, and that is not tolerable.
So now I use a script with the cp command that does back every last thing up.
