I've uploaded a beta release of Saxon Enterprise Edition 9.2 for Java.
Saxon-EE is the new name for Saxon-SA, reflecting the fact that there is now
far more to the product than just schema awareness. New features in this
* Streaming templates in XSLT (ability to process a source document using
template rules in streaming mode, provided the templates adhere to a strict
subset of the language)
* Selected features from XQuery 1.1 including grouping and higher-order
* More features and closer conformance to XSD 1.1
* Separate compilations of query modules
* A new mechanism for binding of "integrated extension functions" with
explicit binding of parameters and types, and the ability to access
information from the static context.
As this is the first functionality release in a year there's a lot of
change, and this beta release is provided because there are almost certainly
a few bugs and incompatibilities that need to be ironed out. This release is
not recommended for production use.
The release will eventually be accompanied by Saxon Professional Edition and
Home Edition, all of which will be available both on Java and .NET. But the
beta release is confined to Saxon-EE on Java.
Existing license files continue to work provided they are still current.
The software can be downloaded from
and the documentation (including the usual copious change log) is available
Bugs can be reported in the usual way, and I'm also interested in feedback
if you think there are things I've got wrong. If you follow me on twitter,
you'll get a feel for how things are progressing towards the production
