thanks for the fast answer.
So saxon itself does not provide a functionality to compare xml file, right? I either have to use some external xml comparing tool, deep-equal with the "w?"-Parameter or get rid of the white space before comparing. Or are the other options?

Use an xml compare tool, or you could use saxon:deep-equal($seq1,
$seq2, (), 'w?')

The 'w' means ignore whitespace, and the ? outputs the differences.
