Radu was quite correct: my apologies. I couldn't believe that it could be so simple, and I still have difficulty seeing how this got through all our tests - though I can see how the error arose historically as a result of some refactoring that took place some time before the 9.3 release when combining the compile-time and run-time logic into a single path. Anyway, I've patched it on the 9.4 branch, and on 9.3 as well just in case we ever rebuild that branch, and I will add the regression test.

Thanks, we'll investigate. I don't think Radu's analysis of the Saxon logic is 100% correct, but I'm quite prepared to believe that there is a bug in this area.

Hi,

I have recently realized that lang attribute on xsl:sort is being
ignored -- or rather used only if matches current locale set in Java. I
originally thought that this was oXygen problem, but oXygen folks thinks
that the bug is in Saxon.

Please see thread at:
http://www.oxygenxml.com/pipermail/oxygen-user/2012-July/004262.html

And specially:
http://www.oxygenxml.com/pipermail/oxygen-user/2012-July/004265.html

In short, problem is that <xsl:sort select="." lang="cs"/> works only
sometimes, while <xsl:sort select="."
collation="http://saxon.sf.net/collation?lang=cs"/> works as expected.

Thanks in advance,
