I just purchased SaxonPE,  added the saxon-9.2.1.1.jar file to my Tomcat webapp using JSTL, and it works beautifully, performing large and complex XSLT 1 and 2 transforms.

But alas, it now outputs thousands of "recoverable errors" to Tomcat's catalina.out file (Tomcat's stdout), e.g.:

This doesn't happen with the same transforms under Xalan.

I realize that this means we should "fix" the transforms with template priorities, but that's impractical: I've got nearly a dozen people who've written almost a hundred transforms, and will be writing more. The transforms work fine as is, despite the "ambiguous rule match".

I did find the following on the XSL mailing list that says I can suppress the recoverable error output with a -w0 flag. But I'm not using Saxon on the command line. I'm using it in a Tomcat JSP with the JSTL tag <x:transform>.

Anyone know how I can pass the -w0 flag to <x:transform> or otherwise suppress this recoverable error output?

Surprisingly, node() and text() have the same priority - this is true in
both XSLT 1.0 and 2.0.

It's also true in both 1.0 and 2.0 that it's a "recoverable error" to have
two template rules that match the same node with the same priority.
Different XSLT processors are allowed to treat "recoverable errors"
differently: they can report the error, or recover, in this case by choosing
whichever template rule comes last. Saxon by default gives you a warning
message and then takes the recovery action. If you want it to take the
recovery action silently, use the -w0 flag.
