This is usually caused by some problem with the installation or configuration of the Microsoft Java VM. Upgrading to the latest version (use Tools / Windows Upgrade in Internet Explorer) usually fixes the problem.

It could just be that the saxon.exe file is corrupt; it might be worth repeating the download just in case.

Subject: [saxon] "Unable to start the application. Invalid class resource. Catastrophic Failure"

I am a first time Saxon user.  I am using Instant Saxon on my Windows 2000 machine.

When I try to run a command to process files in my Input folder to my Output folder using a  specific xsl file I get the following error:

“Unable to start the application.  Invalid class resource.  Catastrophic Failure”

my command line looks like this:

C:\Saxon>Saxon –o Output Input filename.xsl

Has anyone seen this before?

What am I missing which prevents the application from running?

Any help is appreciated.

Cheers,

Stephanie
