There are a couple SAX RFEs open right now that I'm likely to close
if nobody provides public domain code for them. So to provide fair
notice, I thought I'd send out a notice to see if someone wants to

As I recall, the discussion last time came to wanting
several things. One was a data type layer, another was
a layer for schema constraints (W3C style being only one
of the options), and then implementations for each of
those. Whoever did that would of course need to work
with various other interested parties ... SAX2 would
have the interfaces, not the implementations.

Basically, take strings like "(a,(b|c)*,d)+" and find
some clean way to parse them into atoms.
I think in both cases I'd be interested in seeing implementations
be as available as SAX2 is (same licensing) but not part of SAX
itself ... if they happened, that might be a good time to start
some kind of allied software distribution.
