I have read in some places that shoutcast uses latin1 by default and that's why I set it the default for the ICY protocol. In fact, reading the code (which is factorized in tools/icecast_utils.ml) it seems that latin1 is the default for the ICY protocol no matter what. I think this is a rather recent change (couple of months), before that it was only latin1 for ICY and shoutcast.
