Enter your taskbar properties by right clicking the taskbar. Select 'start menu programs' then 'advance' From there find your start up menu and select the Savant properties. At the bottom of that box you can select how it starts E.G. minimized, maximized etc. Just select minimized and hit apply. That should do it. Qel |

Hello, I have Savant 3.0 icon in my "start up" folder, so that if I reboot or start my Windows 98 PC Savant will be running each time. After I reboot, the Savant window is open. Is there a way to make the Savant window not open and the server run with the icon in the system tray? Like other system tray icons we could then open the program window by clicking on the icon. Not a major issue, just would be convenient. It would help when my roommate's friends use my PC, and I'm not home. These visitors tend to close my server simply to get rid of the window. Obviously, they don't know what they are closing. Sincerely, John Michael Sarkozi http://Hillvue.Com http://SarksWorks.Com |

On Thu, 25 Oct 2001, Gordon Stewart wrote: > is there a way - to make the logs show the FULL paths / Variables - even when using the submit button ? I think what you're asking for here is to have the full contents of a POST operation written to the logs. Savant doesn't allow this for two reasons: 1. Security. Most CGI applications that require passwords use the POST operation, and writing these passwords in plaintext to a web server log file can lead to problems. 2. Disk space. Anything much larger than 256 characters is going to be sent to the server via a POST operation. If you were running a CGI application that allowed a user to upload a file from their system (or even send a lot of text, such as a webmail implementation) the log files would grow very big very fast. This would also put a pretty huge load on the system - in addition to running the CGI application, the system also has to handle writting a (possibly) large amount of data to the disk. The ability to turn POST logging on for debugging purposes (maybe through a checkbox on the CGI configuration tab) is a possibility for a future release of Savant. > G. Michael |

Hi again.. I see on my logs, lines which say :- 138.235.134.251 - - [25/Oct/2001:15:14:32 +1200] "POST /cgi-bin/tnl5/search= .cgi" 200 4574 and some saying :- 138.235.134.251 - - [25/Oct/2001:15:14:26 +1200] "GET /cgi-bin/tnl5/search.= cgi?categoryval=3D0" 200 2247 i know - if it doesnt say any values after the CGI - it most probably is = when a person is using the 'submit' button in the form & the ones with more detail - using plain links.. is there a way - to make the logs show the FULL paths / Variables - even = when using the submit button ? What do you have in your configuration HTTP panel? I had to put my server name in to get it to work... I use dns2go so I used my dns2go url... It wouldn't work for me til I did that... I am having trouble with a few people connecting to my server it seems that when they attempt the server serves up a 301 then nothing. This appears to be isolated as almost every one gets served a 301 at first then some people are connected to the appropriate web site and others aren't. I've included the links below if anyone would like to check it out. Yes, the Code Red worm... Don't the machines just check random IP addy's? I get so many CR requests that my log files are cluttered! [I'm a new Savant user, so you may have already answered this question on this discussion list.] About 10 times each day, my new Savant server receives a series of about 10 requests. They sure look like attempts to access my system for mischief (e.g., "GET /scripts/..%c0%af../winnt/system32/cmd.exe?/c+dir"). Each batch of about 10 requests comes from different servers. Are these servers which have been affected by the Code Red virus and are now trying to send commands to other servers (such as mine)? The amazing thing is that these attempts happened immediately after I installed Savant! How did they start so quickly? I don't publicize my server's address. - Eric --------------- Eric DeRosia, University of Michigan ede...@um... www.umich.edu/~ederosia |

If you want to work off line then you can just view the file right from your C:\Savant\Root\ There shouldn't be any reason you can't see that since the file is on your computer. Hello list: I'm Alonsodoc, Im a beginner, so maybe this question could be seen very simple. Is the first time I use a web server. (I'm happy this be Savant). My Operating system is Windows ME. I'm conected to the www throught and ISP. Today I downlanded Savant and it seems to work fine, but the problem is that in order to see myself (i.e. to view the page C:\Savant\Root\index.html); I need first to get conected to the internet and if I select "work offline" i can´t see the page. How can I configure my system in order to be able to get the same results but without actually conec the equipment to the internet. What's wrong?. What shoud I know?. Thanks, really thanks. Note: I´m writing from México and I don´t have the skill to write well in English, so excuse a mispelled world or any other gramatical error I have. Thanks agaain. __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? Make a great connection at Yahoo! Personals. http://personals.yahoo.com |

Hi - i was wondering - For CGI scripts - Is there something in the logs to tell us how long it actually took to = produce & send the HTML output ? Ie - My script might produce 8-15 K's of information.. - & it actually = takes 1 second for the server / Pc to access the database, extract = information & produce the HTML - But it might take 2-4 seconbds to = actually appear on the screen. Any ideas ? G. |

Hi, This page: http://abbaneo.home.cern.ch/offline/web/http_error_codes.html Says you've used a bad gateway... This page explains it better: http://www.checkupdown.com/status/E502.html Anyway, I had this problem too until I put my url in the "Server DNS entry" in the configuration screen... When I just had my IP address, I put that in there, now that I have dns2go, I put my dns2go url in there... Perhaps you need to try that... I also had to enable file sharing... Everyone says that is bad but I was unable to get Savant to work w/o doing that... Babs ----- Original Message ----- From: Cyclone To: sav...@li... Well I solved my own problem but thought I would Share it with everyone else. I used a JavaScript to extract the incoming URL and then direct it to the appropriate opening page for the requested web site. I placed it on a dummy page and made that my default page which redirects the incoming request See Below: <SCRIPT LANGUAGE="JavaScript"> function MoveIt (){ var URL; URL = document.domain if(URL == "1000treasures.com") window.navigate("http://1000treasures.com/1000treasuresShop/index.htm"); else if(URL == "bushhousechat.com") window.navigate("http://bushhousechat.com/index.htm"); else if(URL == "sarabaybaptist.com") window.navigate("http://sarabaybaptist.com/sarabaydefault.asp"); else if(URL == "finaledgedev.com") window.navigate("http://finaledgedev.com/main.htm"); } </script> then by adding <BODY onload="MoveIt()"> the page loads, checks the URL then navigates as indicated.
