Rickard,
Without further information on your setup, I can only make a guess, =
but I'd say your problem is one of two things:
1) Your ISP is blocking traffic on ports 80 (http) and 21 (ftp). =
They do this to prevent customers from running web servers. If this is =
the case, you can simply set Savant to serve through a different port, =
say 1080. However, your visitors would then have to access your site via =
www.yourdomain.com:1080. There are ways around this, such as services =
offered by ZoneEdit.com, but I won't go into that here.
Keep in mind that running a webserver may very well be against your =
ISP's acceptable use policy, whether they have port 80 blocked or not. =
You'll have to check that out yourself.
2) Are you behind a Firewall and/or Router? If so you may need to =
set it to forward requests to port 80 and/or 21 to the local LAN IP of =
the computer you have Savant and/or your FTP server running on.
You may have both problems 1 and 2, in which case just set your =
router to forward whatever ports you decide to use.
By the way, the reason your computer will still respond when you =
type your IP address into the address bar is because of internal =
loopback. The request never actually makes it out to the web basically, =
as it has no need to.
I'm no expert on any of this, but hopefully this should get you =
going. Good luck!

Subject: [Savant-discuss] Webbserver and XP
Hi!=20
I'm running Windows XP Pro and Savant!
My problem is that I can't get any server (neither ftp or http) to run =
properly in Win XP. This is what I have done: shut down XP's own =
firewall, tested the webbserver by typing http://<my_ip> in the browser =
and it works very well (also the CGI). The problem comes up when =
somebody from outside is trying to access my computer! Then thier =
browsers can't find my webbserver... Other servers (or softwares that =
act like servers) like ICQ works very well... If you have any ideas =
about what to do please tell me...=20
Thanks!
Best regards
Rickard
