I am trying to build Sarg version 2.2.3.1 on an XServe G5 running Mac OS X 10.5.2 and XCode 3.0.

The ./configure step appears successful but the make step fails with the following errors (previous non error messages from the make omitted).

gcc -c -I. -DPACKAGE_NAME=\"\" -DPACKAGE_TARNAME=\"\" -DPACKAGE_VERSION=\"\" -DPACKAGE_STRING=\"\" -DPACKAGE_BUGREPORT=\"\" -DHAVE_DIRENT_H=1 -DSTDC_HEADERS=1 -DHAVE_ICONV=1 -DICONV_CONST= -DHAVE_SYS_TYPES_H=1 -DHAVE_SYS_STAT_H=1 -DHAVE_STDLIB_H=1 -DHAVE_STRING_H=1 -DHAVE_MEMORY_H=1 -DHAVE_STRINGS_H=1 -DHAVE_INTTYPES_H=1 -DHAVE_STDINT_H=1 -DHAVE_UNISTD_H=1 -DHAVE_STDIO_H=1 -DHAVE_STDLIB_H=1 -DHAVE_STRING_H=1 -DHAVE_STRINGS_H=1 -DHAVE_SYS_TIME_H=1 -DHAVE_TIME_H=1 -DHAVE_UNISTD_H=1 -DHAVE_SYS_DIRENT_H=1 -DHAVE_DIRENT_H=1 -DHAVE_SYS_SOCKET_H=1 -DHAVE_NETDB_H=1 -DHAVE_ARPA_INET_H=1 -DHAVE_SYS_TYPES_H=1 -DHAVE_NETINET_IN_H=1 -DHAVE_SYS_STAT_H=1 -DHAVE_CTYPE_H=1 -DHAVE_GD_H=1 -DHAVE_GDFONTL_H=1 -DHAVE_GDFONTT_H=1 -DHAVE_GDFONTS_H=1 -DHAVE_GDFONTMB_H=1 -DHAVE_GDFONTG_H=1 -DHAVE_ICONV_H=1 -DHAVE_ERRNO_H=1 -DHAVE_SYS_RESOURCE_H=1 -DSIZEOF_OFF_T=8 -DOFFSET_STRING=\"%lli\" -g -O2 -w -DBINDIR=\"/usr/bin\" -DSYSCONFDIR=\"/usr/local/sarg\" -DHTMLDIR=\"/Library/WebServer/Documents\" ip2name.c
ip2name.c: In function ‘ip2name’:
ip2name.c:30: error: ‘u_long’ undeclared (first use in this function)
ip2name.c:30: error: (Each undeclared identifier is reported only once
ip2name.c:30: error: for each function it appears in.)
ip2name.c:30: error: syntax error before ‘addr’
ip2name.c:34: error: incompatible types in assignment
make: *** [ip2name.o] Error 1

Obviously, I have not been able to move on to the make install stage.

Any suggestions on how to fix this error?

Fixed in svn at revision 295. The quick and dirty fix is to replace u_long by unsigned long but a more elaborate fix is in svn.
