Sapia released Ubik 1.1, a full-feature remoting framework without the burden of an app server, and much easier than RMI to use. Among the features: smart stubs, fail-over, load-balancing, replicated JNDI, callbacks, clean shutdown, client-side discovery.

Sapia OSS released Vlad 1.0b. Vlad is a validation engine implemented in Java. It supports the configuration of validation rules through XML. For this release, new rules have been added: min/max rules for the following Java primitive types are available: int, long, float, double.
