Hello, Thanks for the report! I'm able to reproduce it, not sure when that got introduced ( we need to remember to run "make test" before releases apparently :) ). Go ahead and "make install", it should work fine. I'll make the test work ok in the next RC release ( there are a couple other bug fixes I'm working on in the meantime ). Thanks, Rob On Fri, Apr 11, 2003 at 06:09:40PM +0200, Florian Walker wrote: > hi! > i try to install sandweb on a linux machine. > all requiert perl-moduls shoud be installed and working. > i followed the INSTALL dokument and executed the following instrucions: > perl Makefile.PL //no failure, all test's ok > make //no failure, all test's ok > make test //here is the problem!! > > while execution of the "make test" command there is will be shown an error. > the errormessage is: > _________________________________________________________________ > ...... > > PERL_DL_NONLAZY=1 /usr/bin/perl "-MExtUtils::Command::MM" "-e" "test_harness(0, 'blib/lib', 'blib/arch')" t/*.t > t/auth..........ok > t/file..........ok > t/repository....ok 8/190+1 records in > 0+1 records out > > Can't call method "debug" without a package or object reference at /home/s_fwalke/sandweb/blib/lib/SandWeb/Repository/cvs.pm line 2603. > t/repository....dubious > Test returned status 29 (wstat 7424, 0x1d00) > DIED. Odd. The error seems to indicate that there is no timeout value. Did you completely unset the timeout value in sandweb.cfg? Please send the <system> tag/attributes from your sandweb.cfg if not, I'll try to reproduce. Hello, Are you using 1.0RC1? If not, upgrade and see if it still happens. SandWeb times out CLI operations, default is 300 seconds. Since we use the command line interface to call SSH and CVS, that's probably what is happening to you. This is just a safety valve to prevent SandWeb from waiting forever. Look at the "timeout" setting near the bottom of sandweb.cfg, you should be able to just bump that up and get a successful checkout. Please note that there's a bug in RC1 that prevents you from being notified immediately if a password authentication fails. It's fixed in SandWeb CVS, so please update to RC2 as soon as it comes out of you'll have to wait until the timeout to find out if your password was entered incorrectly :) HTH, Rob Helmer On Wed, Apr 02, 2003 at 05:43:51PM -0400, ERIC LOPEZ wrote: > Hello, > > It's there a max number setting when checking out a module? > Previously I created an folder in the repository which in turn contains > about 5 more folders. Hello, It's there a max number setting when checking out a module? Previously I created an folder in the repository which in turn contains about 5 more folders. When checking out for first time, it showed only the first folder with nearly all the files in it. I checked out the same folder one more time, and it showed the previous folder/files plus the remaining files of it, plus a second folder and half of its contents. I kept doing this for a while until, no more new folders/files where showed. But still missing one folder with all its contents. This module contains about 5000+ files. Any Ideas? Thanks, Eric. Ah, ok, sorry I misunderstood the problem. You don't have to install Cygwin or anything else on the client. So, when you are on the machine, you use http://localhost/cgi-bin/sandweb.cgi What is the URL you are trying to use from the remote machine? Try this : find out the IP address of the SandWeb server ( you can get this by running "ipconfig" ), and try this from the client : http://ipaddress/cgi-bin/sandweb.cgi On Tue, Mar 04, 2003 at 04:40:07PM +0000, lu fang wrote: > Hi, > The problem I mentioned before is about the login process into sandweb from > remote(with a web browser). > But still thanks a lot for your explanation on pserver login process. Hi, The problem I mentioned before is about the login process into sandweb from remote(with a web browser). But still thanks a lot for your explanation on pserver login process. For the two commands u have mentioned as: >su - apache >cvs -d :pserver:server:username login > I am wondering that do you mean I have to install cygwin in my client machine also since these two commands are for unix system, while my client platform is windowsNT or XP? By the way, i have some doubts on these two commands. when I run sandweb on my server machine, I type : http://localhost/cgi-bin/sandweb.cgi/ and I can see the login page, after I log in, i go to repository menu and I found that there are fields for me to key in username and password ( I think this is account info for CVS repo access, isn't it). I used pserver protocol and it can work properly! so I think I may not need to run the command: >cvs -d :pserver:server:username login since the fields for the user to key in servername, username, password(cvs/ssh), cvsroot are already existing in the repository menu. ( although I have to type the cvs password again when I run cvs command on sandweb later). this is my opinion, but I can not test it now from remote client machine becos I even can not login as sandweb user from remote access. Don't know what is the reason! Can you kindly give some suggestions on it! >From: Rob Helmer <ro...@na...> >To: lu fang <hel...@ho...> >CC: san...@li... >Subject: Re: [Sandweb-users] login process got problem when remote access >Date: Mon, 3 Mar 2003 21:35:17 -0800 > >Hello, > > >Are you talking about logging into SandWeb from remote ( with a web >browser ), or logging into a remote CVS repository via pserver using >SandWeb ? > >The problem with pserver is that all operations happen as the same >user ( the Apache user ), because CVS wants to save your password >in ~/.cvspass ( this makes it really insecure because SandWeb currently >shares the Apache user between all SandWeb users ). > >So, I'm not positive what the problem is, but here is what you'll >need to do to use pserver ( at the cygwin prompt ) : > >su - apache >cvs -d :pserver:server:username login > >( substitute "apache" for your Apache user, "server" for your remote >CVS server, "username" for your remove CVS username ). > >Now anyone with a SandWeb account in your instance can use that >CVSROOT. Hello, Are you talking about logging into SandWeb from remote ( with a web browser ), or logging into a remote CVS repository via pserver using SandWeb ? The problem with pserver is that all operations happen as the same user ( the Apache user ), because CVS wants to save your password in ~/.cvspass ( this makes it really insecure because SandWeb currently shares the Apache user between all SandWeb users ). So, I'm not positive what the problem is, but here is what you'll need to do to use pserver ( at the cygwin prompt ) : su - apache cvs -d :pserver:server:username login ( substitute "apache" for your Apache user, "server" for your remote CVS server, "username" for your remove CVS username ). Now anyone with a SandWeb account in your instance can use that CVSROOT. Not ideal, but if you *Really* need pserver, then you can do it. However, it would much behoove you to use SSH.. SandWeb supports that out of the box, and it doesn't have the drawbacks of pserver. Note that at some point in the future, when we support native users, we'll be able to fully support pserver, but that's post-1.0 HTH, Rob Helmer On Tue, Mar 04, 2003 at 04:01:21AM +0000, lu fang wrote: > Hi, I installed sandweb beta version successfully and I configured pserver > protocol for cvs repository, and when I run sandweb in the local machine, i > can login and everything is working properly. Hi, I installed sandweb beta version successfully and I configured pserver protocol for cvs repository, and when I run sandweb in the local machine, i can login and everything is working properly. But when I try to run it from a lient machine, the login process is very very slow and finally hangs there. I don't know what is the reason for it. By the way, I used cygwin on win2k OS for server side, and I do remote access on a winxp machine. I am wondering that maybe I should do some thing on the client machine firstly before i run sandweb, but not sure what to do. Can anyone gives some suggestions. Excellent! I will look at the build system, if you specified "/usr/bin" as the bindir in your install.cfg it should have worked.. ( it works when I build Debian packages ). Anyway, good news nonetheless. Please email the sandweb-users list if you need anything else. On Sun, Mar 02, 2003 at 12:05:43PM +0100, Gaudenz Alder wrote: > Problem solved.
