Hey, I just realized I can post news here...
The Q3A map viewer is now somhow usable, and I packaged a binary version (for WIndows and Linux) and submitted it on NeHe's site (http://nehe.gamedev.net) a few days ago. You'll find it in the download section (It's calleded "Q3view"). There's a little problem with texture compression that will be fixed very soon.
