the "multi-scale" method is thought to speed up the calculation by building up pyramid layers. The "multi-scale factor" describes the growing of the pyramid levels. The "multi-scale" method also uses sectors for the computation but is less accurate as the "sectors" method.

The Topographic Openness module can be run by sections or by "multi-scale factor".
The default is 8 sections, which sounds like an exact replica of the method described by Yokoyama et al (2002).
What is the multi-scale factor, and how does it work in the calculation?

Hi Volker,
is this the same for the "Sky View Factor" tool? It also has the option to choose "multi-scale" and define a "multi-scale factor".
Hi Sophia,
yes, the "multi-scale" method in the Sky View Factor tool uses the same implementation of building up pyramids to speed up the calculation.
Best regards,
Volker
