Hi,
Since version 0.9.6 onwards native DSD256 files on my NuPrime uDSD DAC won't play anymore. An error message appears, something like "706 sample rate KHz not supported" etc. It looks like either foobar has switched to PCM or to DoP, for some reason. The NuPrime uDSD supports native upto DSD256 and DXD384KHz with its ESS dac chip.
However, with the iFi Nano DAC (same specs as to DSD & DXD) everything works fine.
In both cases, the DSD : ASIO : <dac model=""> driver is selected as Output in foobar settings, so the native DSD drivers are used.</dac>
It seems to be a timing problem of some kind; before version 0.9.6 the NuPrime uDSD worked fine.
BTW: Thank you for your wonderful work, Maxim. Cheers!

Native DSD output has been removed from 0.9.x versions (see release log) though if you need it it can be obtained by using the foo_dsd_asio proxy component to convert DoP to native DSD.
See here to do it:

Sorry, but no, native DSD has not been removed. It still works on other DACs, such as the IFi nano DAC (I tried, the iFi needs different firmware for full DoP (i.e. DSD256) support anyway), the Marantz SA-14S1, etc. Native DSD works FINE with the Nuprime uDSD UP TO version 0.9.6. This can be easily checked by displaying the driver's CPL while playing DSD.
Don't know what config you are using but if one uses the plugin by itself, ie no foo_dsd_asio, and sets output to DSD:ASIO:xxxxxxx (in my case "DSD:ASIO: iFi (by AMR) HD USB Audio") one gets DoP and the driver correctly reports 176400 Hz (44.1x4). It is DSD but not "native" as it is encapsultaded within PCM packets.
PS.
from the release notes....
"04/29/16:
Version 0.9.7 - DoP for ASIO/WASAPI/DS, direct DSD for ASIO removed."

You are mistaken on a number of levels. If your DAC supports both native DSD and DoP, you have a choice. Read carefully the following excerpt of version's 0.9.6 README file that explains it clearly. I have marked the relevant native and DoP passages:
"If your DAC supports DSD/DoP through ASIO driver you can set up direct DSD playback:
1. Open File->Preferences->Tools->SACD page.
2. Select "DSD" for "Output Mode".
3. Select "<your asio="" device="" name="">" for "DSD ASIO Device".
4. Check "DoP" if your DAC supports DSD-over-PCM method.
5. Setup appropriate channel mapping.
6. Select "DSD : ASIO : <your asio="" device="" name="">" at File->Preferences->Playback->Output.
If playback is in DSD mode you should get samplerates 2822400, 5644800, etc. and silence on VU Meter."</your></your>
This isn't about the iFi DAC but about the Nuprime uDSD (although I own both) that worked fine with native DSD256 until version 0.9.6. Please read the opening of this ticket.
Since version 0.9.6 onwards........

Right, it's all working again. The culprit seems to be the Windows 10 Anniversary update. I uninstalled foobar fully (including settings and all), reverted Windows to the non-anniversary-update, installed foobar and its plugins again and presto! it all works as it should. Pfff. Thanks for your time guys!
