Annoyingly, my Pioneer ADV-696AV flashed with the modified firmware will not play stereo SACD-R discs. But it will play all the 5.1 SACD-R discs that I have tried.

Any ideas? Is this fixable?

SACD area selection should be described in user manual... At least, SACD-R patch doesn't influence the firmware ability to play stereo area.

OK, let me explain further. The stereo SACD-R disc is recognised as a DVD rather than an SACD. So playback of any part of the SACD-R is impossible right now.

I now have Sony BDP-S380 and these same discs are not recognised on this device, either. I am burning to DVD-R with ImgBurn.

OK, I finally figured out the problem (after numerous failed attempts and lots of wasted DVD-R coasters): I need to burn slower...

2x burn speed gets me a good disc every time. :)
